Interview nerves often come from not knowing what to expect. Use this step-by-step plan — the day before, on the day and after — to walk in calm and ready.

An interview is a conversation with one question behind it: can this person do the job, and will they be good to work with? Preparation turns that question into something you can answer with confidence.
Two or three days before
Learn about the company
Read the job post again, the company's page on Job Samadhan and its website if it has one. Know what they do, who their customers are and where the job is. You don't need to memorise facts — you need to be able to say why this job interests you.
Match yourself to the job
Make a short list of the job's main duties. Next to each, write one example from your work, studies or life that shows you can do it. These examples are your answers to most questions.
Prepare answers to common questions
- "Tell me about yourself." Two minutes: your education, your experience, and why you want this job. Practise it aloud.
- "Why do you want this job?" Connect what the job offers with what you want to learn or do.
- "What are your strengths?" Pick two that match the job and give an example of each.
- "What is a weakness?" Choose a real one that isn't critical for the job, and say what you are doing to improve it.
- "Why are you leaving your current job?" Stay positive — growth, learning, a better fit. Never criticise your old employer.
- "What salary do you expect?" Know the usual range for the role in your city and give a range, not one number.
Prepare two questions of your own
For example: "What does a normal day look like in this role?" or "How will my work be measured in the first three months?" Asking good questions shows real interest.
The day before
- Confirm the time, the place or the video link. On Job Samadhan, confirm the interview from your application page so the employer knows you are coming.
- Keep copies of your resume, your certificates and a photo ID ready — but share ID documents only with a company you have verified.
- Plan your travel so you arrive 10–15 minutes early. For a video or phone interview, charge your phone, check your internet and find a quiet place.
- Choose clean, simple clothes that suit the job.
On the day
- Greet the interviewer politely, sit straight and keep your phone on silent.
- Listen to the full question before you answer. It is fine to take a moment to think.
- Answer with examples: what the situation was, what you did, and what happened.
- Be honest. If you don't know something, say so and say how you would find out.
- At the end, thank them and ask what the next step is.
Warning signs during an "interview"
A genuine interview never asks you to pay. Walk away — and report the job on Job Samadhan — if anyone asks for a registration fee, a security deposit, money for training or uniform, your bank details, or an OTP. Prefer interviews at an office or a public place, and tell someone at home where you are going.
After the interview
Send a short thank-you message if you have the interviewer's contact, or simply wait for an update. Your Job Samadhan application shows every step — shortlisted, interview, offer — and you get a notification when it changes. Whatever the result, note which questions were hard and prepare better answers for next time. Every interview makes the next one easier.
